The graph below, from Twist Trendistic - a BlogPulse for Twitter, shows levels of tweeting around topics relating to the horrific events in Japan (permalink).
It is interesting to note the emergence of the nuclear topic.
Thus far, I've been extremely impressed with the BBC's coverage of the situation. They have a dedicated team and very competent tech staff that have created and supported their real-time online channel. However, I'm quite discouraged by the corporation's use of subjective and sensationalist images relating to the nuclear situation. What does an image of a 6 month old baby being tested with a Geiger counter tell us? With no context, such images are misleading and the BBC ought to know better.
