I’ve written about the launch of Zakta – a conflation of individual passion for a topic, social computing and tools, and search. Yesterday I got an email from Twingly getting things rolling for their new Channels product:
On October 1st, Twingly is changing the rules of the game for searching in news, blogs and microblogs with its soon-to-be-launched Twingly Channels. A completely new way to keep track of the topics you care about and share them with other users with the same interests, Twingly Channels is going to be awesome!
…
We really want to establish Twingly Channels as a social tool for making sense of the realtime web and getting rid of information overload, so not just anyone will be able to create a Channel from the start. This is an incredible undertaking for sure, and we need to make sure that the Channels created during the beta period bring outstanding value for the people that get invited to them.
Both of these ideas are intended to channel the human behaviours that make wikis successful and apply them to the search problem. On reflection, I’m wondering if Squidoo is a precursor to these.
