I’ve removed the redirect from Hyperlocal on Wikipedia so that it no longer points to Local News. I’ve got the beginnings of an article on hyperlocal going, but could certainly use some help.
One of the reasons behind separating these two is that hyperlocal content, and especially blogging, is not simply content about a location and of a particular geographic granularity. It is intended for people resident in that location and, importantly, it is written by residents of the location. Local news does not require the later.
Well done. I'll have a look later today to help further progress the article. At quick glance, it looks great.

Maybe a bit offtopic, but can you imagine what chances "Hyperlocal" will give to the more rural places?
I saw lots of examples (like Seatlle) from cities but to me it is also interesting to see cases from the "flat land" (rural areas).
Why? It is much harder to gain information like in cities where you have tons of information and people.
(this is my perspective over here from germany)
