It is interesting to note that Google's initial move in what Larry Dignan calls their 'let's annoy Microsoft' plan was made on a blog where as the Microsoft response was in the form of a press release in which most of the text was legal boiler plate.
I've often wondered, as companies like Google take aim at Microsoft, why no one speaks of the fact that all of Google's money is made because their users are running Microsoft OSs and internet browsers. It is an obvious fact, but no one seems to mention it. I'll be happy to equate Google with 'don't be evil' again if they will come by and uninstall their desktop search application which came bundled with my home PC and which will not go away no matter how hard I try. Rattle ye sabers while ye may!
The number of users that are not using Microsoft OSs and browsers is noticeable and increasing. Certainly the Firefox market share is significant now, and the Mac is approaching 10%.

not sure I'm following... My household uses google pretty heavily and doesn't run MS OSs or their browsers. I know I may be an outlier, but I don't see how you can tie Google's future income to their users running MS products. At the very least, the argument is not obvious. Maybe I'm missing what you are trying to say...
