Daniel Twigg of 192.com mailed me with an update on their mapping and other local services:
192.com is the only site to offer
- 12.5cm resolution aerial photography UK-wide
- Ordnance Survey maps with 100% of streets labelled
- Maps based on Flash technology

Microsoft's mapping compares favourably with this though the resolution is lower as far as I can tell:
Google doesn't yet have any real imagery of rural Scotland.
One of the interesting twists that 192 has on it's map interface is the blending from the map view of the data to the photographic view which happens only when you zoom in enough.
