As far as I recall, GeoTwitter - from UMBC - was on the scene (8th March) before TwitterVision (16th March?) appeared. These applications are essentially the same (using the Google Maps API and the Twitter API to present the public timeline on a map). So why did TwitterVision get all the attention?
If the reason is one of aesthetics, then perhaps both will now have to stand aside. Digital Urban posts about Fresh Logic Studios launch of a similar application which clearly has had more design resources thrown at it. The application uses the Microsoft Live map API (giving a more comprehensive view of the our geographic world).
The system has actually been put together simply by rewriting the Twitter public timeline as a GeoRSS feed and then pointing Fresh Logic Studios' Atlas platform at this feed.
Thanks for posting about Twitter Atlas. Thought you might like to know we went ahead and grabbed the domain: http://twitteratlas.com/
Should be easier to remember!
