If you take the analysis found in Twitterverse and use that to search Twitterment you find that there is one thing that keeps twits twittering: Twitter. The largest tag in the Twitterverse tag cloud is 'twitter', and graphing mentions in Twitterment produces the following:
Interestingly, if you plot the mentions of 'blog' in BlogPulse, you get a similar statistic (i.e. around 4% of blog posts mention 'blog' and around 4% of Twitter status messages mention 'twitter').
And the easiest way to get a story to the front page of Digg is to put "Digg" in the title, and the easiest way to get a story to the front page of reddit is to make it about reddit.
People who use a site are obviously fans of that site, and will dig anything concerning it.
