[Updated]
Another great year in the blogosphere. I thought I'd share a short list of blogs that I read - if you like this blog, there are probably one or two in here that you'll want to add to your habit.
Web 2.0
- Kevin Burton's Feedblog Kevin's personal blog where he writes about Web 2.0, adventures in MUNI-land, coding in Thailand and almost anything else.
- Geeking With Greg reporting from the cutting edge of personalized media: Findory.
Social Media Analysis
- BuzzBlog the blog of BuzzLogic, read about 'the science of influence.'
- Influence 2.0 Jim Nail of Cymfony.
- Relevant Noise Blog The latest noise from Relevant Noise, a blog monitoring outfit.
- UMBC eBiquity Blog Tim Finin and others write about blog analysis, spam and other great topics.
Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning
- Machine Learning (Theory) Just that.
- Natural Language Processing Blog If you've read Manning and Schütze cover to cover, you'll love this blog.
- Ling Pipe Blog another good place for statistical NLPers. While Hal's blog (above) is academic, this one is industrial.
GIS/Mapping
- James Fee GIS Blog James keeps us up to date with ESRI products while providing a running commentary on enterprise and consumer facing GIS products. Has a liking of Simpson images.
- The Map Room Another great map blog. This year, a great place to keep up to date with the international map theft world.
Data Visualization
- Infosthetics - the daddy of all visualization blogs. Andrew Vande Moere provides a continuous stream of novel visualizations of data from online and offline (including artistic) sources. I'd love to see him include his own critical analysis of the stuff he collects.
- Neoformix - in some ways, this blog is similar to mine. Jeff Clark both provides commentary on various data oriented topics and does some amount of analysis and innovation himself. After a very active start, posting has dropped off a little - hopefully Jeff will hit his stride next year.
- Executive Dashboards this was Dashboard Spy (I think). A remarkable blog showcasing enterprise information solutions.
- Pictures of Numbers For the Tufte in all of us.
- Junk Charts
Social Networks
- Many to Many Danah Boyd and others on the social in social network.
- The Social Networking Blog Keeping a careful eye on the business of social networks.
Global Issues
- ...My Heart's In Accra Ethan is out there fighting as a blogger for the types of things bloggers should really be fighting for.
Thanks, Matthew, glad you enjoy Geeking with Greg!
