It's great to see the cover article in Newsweek being all about the web 2.0/social media space (they use the term user-generated content). Why is it, though, that the web 2.0 world gets excited by this - I thought the whole point was that the dead tree media model was over. I'm I the only one seeing this irony? I believe that the (old) establishment still represents a certain level of authority which we will find hard to give up.
I'm optimistic to think the excitement results in Web 2.0 spreading beyond the "web 2.0 world" you mentioned. But I think there is an element of truth to the authority idea.
