Just Because You Can Doesn't Mean You Must

Update: On TechMeme and TailRank (better coverage).
Update: Jonathan Carson, CEO of BuzzMetrics has a post on the topic.
Update: BoingBoing gets in on the story.

David Armano of Logic + Emotion brings up the issue of the request for no blogging at the recent Nielsen BuzzMetrics social media event. I find this line of thinking severe. Even more extreme are some of the comments, including this from Graham Hill:

Puzzling isn't it. And just a wee bit arrogant. Who do they think they are?

The customers present should just ignore NBM and simply blog what they hear if they really think it appropriate.

Some of this talk is starting to sound almost fundamentalist: it is your right to blog any and all conversations that you are in. This attitude ignores the value and intimacy of private conversation.
