Jeff Clark has a nice example not just of the value of small multiples in depicting data, but of the relationship between those elements and how they can be used (if ordered correctly) to illustrate a larger story.
I'd be interested to see a comparison of this method with others (e.g. what does it look like if they are all superimposed?)
