Great find, Matthew. Geocoding features like the Social Media Layers API offered by this site are missing from all of the social media analytics dashboard systems I have recently used/reviewed. Since the majority of companies/organizations out there do not have national brands or markets, but are more interested in social media conversations at the regional or local level, this can be leveraged for some powerful and useful mashups.
